P O T T E R
I spent the first 7 years of my childhood in Grenada, a small island in the Caribbean. My family moved back to London after also living in Canada and Portugal for several years. I started studying ceramics from the age of 9 and in 1990, completed an MA in Ceramics at Goldsmiths University in London.
In 1991 I visited Japan. It was a big culture shock seeing a vast variety and wonderful craftsmanship of Japanese ceramics and I decided to stay there as a student. I was granted a Monbusho Scholarship to study Ceramics in Kyoto and had an apprenticeship at Miyano-gama Pottery in Seto. After coming back to London, I set up my studio making individual pieces alongside tablewares for a few highend Japanese restaurants and exhibited in galleries.
I now live and work in the Preseli hills, North Pembrokeshire, Uk where the colours of ash glazed pots suitably reflect the mossy greens that decorate the surfaces of stones and bark alike.
